We are proud to announce that several students from Memorial Middle School have qualified for the regional competition of National History Day. This competition is a nationwide contest for students in grades 6-12 who are interested in researching and presenting on historical topics of their choice.
The students who qualified have spent countless hours researching, writing, and creating exhibits, documentaries, performances, websites, and papers on topics ranging from local history to global events. Their hard work and dedication have paid off, and we are thrilled to see them recognized for their efforts.
"National History Day is an incredible opportunity for our students to delve deep into historical topics they are passionate about and develop important research and presentation skills," said Marta Benson, MMS's National History Day Advisor. "We are so proud of our students and look forward to seeing them showcase their work at the regional competition."
The regional competition will take place on Thursday, March 2, at the Old Courthouse Museum in Sioux Falls, and winners will advance to the state and potentially the national competition. We wish our students the best of luck and congratulate them on this impressive achievement.
Congratulations to all our students who participated in National History Day, and we thank their teachers and families for supporting them along the way.
